Lifestyle/Fitness Athlete Pieter v.d. Gaag
Let me introduce myself, my name is Pieter van der Gaag, I am 22 years old and I live in South Holland. I started fitness at the age of 15. Before I started my fitness journey, I practiced a number of sports such as; basketball, tennis, and soccer. I got no satisfaction out of these sports and sadly quickly quit. Until one moment I saw an advertisement in the newspaper of a gym in my area. I asked my mom if I could join. Shortly thereafter I was in the gym once a week. Not knowing exactly what I wanted to achieve, but it felt good throwing weights around. For a number of years, I went to the gym about 3 times a week and started reading a lot on the internet and in magazines about certain ways of training. I paid little attention to my diet but I did see a progression. I started to love the gym.
When I turned 18, I decided to do an internship in Spain for six months for my studies. I had an apartment there and a gym just down the road. This was the moment when I decided to start working on a goal, a body to be proud of! I trained whenever I wanted and adjusted my diet so that it fully matched my activities. In this half-year, I increased considerably in muscle mass and training knowledge. The following years I knew that my passion was fitness. I looked forward to every training and tried to gain a lot of knowledge from different people, magazines, and books.
When I look back at my "road to success" I would change little. I started ignorantly and developed myself over the years in the field of fitness and health. At the moment I still train every day with great pleasure and passion. I also guide people online with their needs for nutrition and training. I enjoy every day and will always work to be the best version of myself.
I use a split schedule upper body, lower body, core & cardio.
Always high intensity and full focus
Who's your role model?
I have looked up to Steve Cook from the beginning of my fitness period. Steve Cook is an IFBB fitness athlete from America who shares his knowledge about training on various social media channels. Steve Cook exudes positivity and has in my eyes a perfect physique. For these reasons, Steve Cook is my all-time role model.
Pasta with red sauce, vegetables, and lean ground beef is my favorite meal. Whether I am bulging or in my cut, I always try to find a place for a plate of pasta.
What do you need to train?
To make my training successful, I use the camo wrist wraps from Tuff Guy Sport. This provides support for my wrists and allows me to get the most out of my training. Music cannot be missed either. I mainly listen to raw style and up-tempo to keep my training intensity high and to be able to train well.
